Christian Marriage Certificate valid for Visa purposes in India?

I only have a Christian Marriage Certificate and now I want to return to India to live with my husband. Will that be possible for me to get a visa with church certificate only? I am from Brazil, and we got married in Chennai. He is in India and I am in Brazil now. What should I do?

  1. I'm not sure what your calling a Christian marriage certificate. If it is a legal marriage document, like what is called a marriage license, that was bought from a government office, it can be used along with proper identification for obtaining a visa. You should contact India's Immigration Office and see what they expect you to have and need for a visa.I am sure you could find answers online if you contact them. It's always best to have original documents and not copies of such papers.
  2. Mam, I think any legal marriage certificate will survive the purpose for passport purpose but it will be more fullproff u may kindly contact Passport Authority
  3. if u have a marriage certificate from a church inChennai, it is perfectly acceptable
